The Art Programme at Västra Nylands Folkhögskola provides a basic training in fine art and handicraft and can act as a springboard for further vocational studies. The teaching is focused on the training of the eye and the hand, on the development of the sense for colour and form and on personal creativity. Fine art and handicraft are also a good choice for those students who want to spend a winter on artistic creativity without any direct connection with later vocational study.
A varied programme. The teaching on the Art Programme is divided into periods, which allows the students to choose a number of courses within different areas of art. The students can thus put together their own individual programmes of study. Each course is a self-contained entity, which allows for a large number of personal subject combinations.
Experienced teachers and good facilities. The courses are taught by experienced teachers and professional artists. The students are given individual tuition and critique both individually and in groups. The Art Programme has a number of special rooms including a large studio and workshops for graphics, metal work, ceramics and sculpture. The programme uses high-quality technical equipment.
Further study. You have excellent opportunities at VNF to prepare yourself for a future profession, for example, as art teacher, designer, silversmith or artist. You may also find art study useful if you become a leisure activity leader or a work therapist.
University College for the Creative Arts. Västra Nylands Folkhögskola has an agreement with a British university college, the University College for the Creative Arts (UCCA), near London. The agreement authorizes your main teacher in Fine Art and Handicraft to select students at VNF for the three-year Bachelor of Arts degree course at the UCCA.
The teaching languages are Swedish and English.
"Jag har valt att gå konstlinjen på VNF för att det är en utmärkt möjlighet att se var jag står inom konsten. Undervisningen och metoderna är mångsidiga och ger en god grund för eventuella fortsatta konststudier. Oavsett hur framtiden ser ut är det roligt att göra något som jag brinner för. "
