Västra Nylands Folkhögskola has offered a professional dance programme since 1990. Our programme is well-known and highly respected throughout Finland. We have widely recognized, experienced teachers. We also have a number of Finnish-speaking students. Since 2002 we have been able to admit more students to the programme by working in two parallel groups.

May we invite you… Do you have a basic knowledge of a particular kind of dance or have you been to a dance school? Are you planning to be a dancer, a choreographer or a dance teacher? We offer you the springboard that you may need to go on to further study at a polytechnic or a university.

…to a dance… We offer you an opportunity to measure your resources in dance and a chance to develop within this multifaceted and well thoughtout programme. You will receive a realistic picture of the world of dance and develop your own personal view of dance. All of this, together with dance techniques and physical, musical and social skills, will give you a solid foundation for further study.

…to a year with substance… The emphasis will be on the technical subjects Contemporary Dance, Ballet and Jazz Dance. Your personal ideas will be developed by improvisation and composition. The programme also includes flamenco, physiology, bodycondition, and, last but not least, a major production. There will also be several separate performances during the year.

…and results? We work hard and we achieve results. You will have access to the dance studio outside lesson periods, which allows you to make that extra special effort.
