In today’s society photographic images are used for many purposes. We concentrate on the use of photography I different contexts, such as reporting, advertising and photographic art. We study a picture’s digital workflow in its entirety, from the initial idea to the finished product.

…may become your future profession… Your basic education is suitable for a future career as a professional photographer or other similar professions. The digital specialization will also suit you who are planning to work in an international context. You will have a chance to develop your technical skills and your personal expression. Some courses are taught by visiting teachers, who are specialists in their own fields. Our studios and workshops are well-equipped and our computers have programmes for advanced graphic processing. Cameras, photographic and film studios as well as a darkroom are at your disposal. We work primarily with digital techniques, but we also provide courses in traditional darkroom techniques

...with many opportunities for border-crossing. Our aim is to give you a solid technical and artistic foundation for work with photographic images. We work both with the picture itself and the picture in its proper environment. You will learn how to work in varied contexts, how to solve photographic problems independently as well as how to transmit information and convey emotions and atmospheres in a personal way. You will also be taught the basics of cultural marketing and how to build various kinds of portfolios for your own future use.

University College for the Creative Arts. Västra Nylands Folkhögskola has an agreement with a British university college, the University College for the Creative Arts (UCCA) near London. The agreement authorizes your main teacher in Photography to select students at VNF for the three-year Bachelor of Arts degree course at the UCCA.
